Just a couple years after I got started teaching and founded Anguilla CPR - the first American Heart Association site in Anguilla - I am devastated to see the island where I lived 16 months so badly damaged by Irma. Nonetheless, the response of those around the world echoes the sentiment on the ground in Anguilla - there is no strength like AnguillaStrong.
During our short trip to post-Irma Anguilla, we provided insulin and other critical medical supplies to the hospital, worked in the field with the Anguilla Red Cross, and communicated back to those in the US coordinating relief shipments to Anguilla
Our needs assessment identified water, electricity, and repair of homes as the top priorities in Anguilla. As the water and electricity crisis continues in the weeks and months that follow, we intend to provide solar generators as a way to help Anguilla residents get cistern pumps working and light their homes.
We urge all to donate to those recovering from hurricane damage in the Caribbean, whether it be our solar and ADMAT (Anguilla Disaster Medical Assistance Team) projects, or any other projects.
For those interested in donating to Anguilla, we especially recommend:
